Question by Psycee: Why doesn’t the president Legalize Marijuana to help resolve our county’s monetary demands?
This is a simple question that has been asked many instances! Even so, in these instances of war and scenarios like the Schip bill (both effortlessly costing above 500 billion dollars together) why would he/congress not use any and all indicates to obtain this “necessary” money? It has been argued that legalizing Marijuana would not only preserve billions of dollars, but create billions of dollars in taxes. And thinking about why it was outlawed in the very first spot (with the hopes of cutting down spanish immigration) it looks to be even a lot more of a dead fight. Honestly the much more details that emerge about this topic the much more contempt we are forced to feel for who tells us what we can and can not do. The basic facts are that Marijuana has been close to ten occasions lengthier then America it self, and will be about nevertheless. I strongly support Legalizing Marijuana, and my views will not alter…So my true query would eventually be “Who supports fighting genuine issues like terrorism, worldwide warming, and poverty?”

Very best answer:

Solution by it is me

The president CAN’T legalize it. That will take an act of congress.

Marijuana is more than just something that we can simply say yes or no to. If you look at the millions this government spends alone on anti-smoking ads it wouldnt make very much sense for them to add another outlet for them to make ads against would it? You have government funded anti-smoking groups that make commercials and magazine ads trying to promote smokers to stop quitting. How would it look if they government then went and legalized another form of smoking? They would look completely foolish and the anti-smoking ads that WE pay for would be completely pointless. It’s not a yes or no situation. It’s just a no.

President Clinton said marijuana should be legal… AFTER he left office. Politicians dont care about whats right but about what makes them electable so that they can be posterboys for corporations and lobbyists. America doesnt want to make marijuana legal because it would make alot of minorities rich since the best marijuana is latin america and the caribbean. America would rather you get high on their drugs which the pharmaceutical companies pay them to make legal and be approved. How can cigarettes and alcohol be legal and marijauan not? Makes no sense but its all too political and full of an ugly history.

Our country was founded as a Republic and not a Democracy. Accordingly, we elect people who are competent to make decision for the “ignorant masses”. Many people would love to smoke pot, make love, and pee in somebody elses pool. But some activities, like marijuana use, must be prohibited for the good of the whole country.

  5. The one argument for drug legalization that I absolutely hate is the one that says that drugs should be legalized to increase tax revenues. That’s a self-refuting argument, as the government has too much money to begin with (otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to throw away $ 1 trillion destabilizing Iraq or $ 1 million for a Woodstock museum, or millions for a Bridge to Nowhere, or all that money that they’ve spent on pork barrel projects in West Virginia that are named after Robert Byrd).

I personally don’t want to have anything to do with drug users, but I also don’t support sending them to jail. So, I support reinstating Freedom of Association as well as legalizing drugs. However, I don’t support legalization because it will raise tax revenues, but in spite of that fact. The Drug War has led to systemic violations of the 4th and 5th Amendment, severely violating the rights of all Americans. The Drug War has jailed millions of people for engaging in a peaceful activity. However, most importantly, it is inherently immoral to make drugs illegal, because it violates the rights of businessmen by prohibiting them from selling a product which customers wish to purchase, violates the rights of consumers by preventing them from purchasing a product they want, and drug criminalization is inherently based upon the Iron Fist of the government (which is, in and of itself, highly immoral).

if the governemt were to legalize the pot, then they would have to admit to the people of the USA that all the previous funding to fight this drug war was wasted, and this government will never admit they made a mistake.

Look at the Netherlands, they had a serious drug problem over there, so to defeat it, they legalized drugs, and now they don’t have as big a problem with it that they did before.

If this government followed suit, then the billions of dollars that the drug cartels are raking in from smuggling drugs in to the USA would dry up and they would be out of business.

But since I do not do any drugs, it doesn’t really matter what I think regarding this issue. No one would pay any attention to any of my ideas anyway, so why even bother?

Will you support illegality just for your country to make money? may be your next support will be cocaine and human trafficking, your country will have more money when she decide to leave other country for their problem to solve and stop playing the Police of the world.

They probably make more money arresting people on pety charges. Think about all the people that go on probation that violates all the money they all spend.
