Query by Jacobisrael: Plant that seems like marijuana?
Okay, I have searched the net for an answer to this, or images, to no avail. I mow my grandmas lawn for her, and each time I am up there, there is a plant that seems quite related to marijuana, and it grows wild. Now Ive study there are weeds that seem practically precisely like cannabis, but, they only grow to about a foot tall. These plants that grow at her spot, have leaves identical to cannabis, are a single woody stem with a possibly one or two branches, nearly bush-like, and if left alone, will develop to around four-5 feet and have tiny yellow flowers on them. From anything I have read, it is virtually identical to marijuana. The only issue I have accomplished to verify myself, was dried some of the leaves, and burned them (not smoked), to smell the smoke, and it was specifically the very same as if an individual had lit a bowl nearby. Im just searching for perhaps some opinions on this? I personally dont smoke, and my grandma definitely does not, haha. As for area considering that that would assist, Im in Southeast Ohio. Im just wondering about this, and how it would be developing wild if it is marijuana, because she’s in the country, and no a single lives close to her.

Marijuana or ditchweed, that was the moment planted for hemp, grows wild all above the mid-west and southern United States. Even so the flowers are bracts so appear practically nothing like the sepal & petal arrangement of most flowers. The bract is leaf-like and appears similar to the bracts discovered on a hop vine. The hop is a connected genus also in the Cannabaceae plant family members.

A yellow flowered plant with serrate margins on the compound palmate leaves helps make me feel of cinquefoil – Potentilla. Maybe Potentilla recta

But Marijuana does grow wild in some states…but it might not be as potent..from what I remember people saying. Years ago my family moved to the Okla/Tex and said that marijuana grew everywhere in the sides of the roads.I have never seen it. But there IS a houseplant that is very similar to marijuana leaves only the leaves are darker green and stiffer. You could probably google it- Here is something you could check…figure out if what she has is a perennial…comes back , same place every year…then find out if Cannabis Sativa is a perennial..that should tell you!
Since it’s in the genus Cannabis, it may be wild hemp.
If you are in Iowa or Missouri it most likely is marijuana growing wild. It’s very common in those areas and others have told me it grows wild in road ditches and old fields in many other states and in Hawaii.
