I just don’t approve of legalizing it. Period. I don’t have any reasons other than I don’t want it to cause more deaths. Yes, alcohol is legal, but it still accounts for a large number of deaths, and I fear that if marijuana is also legalized, more deaths will be caused from people being under its influence.

You have to consider driving though, it does impair your ability to drive and theres no test to see if you are impaired like there is for alcohol. I have no problem with weed, make it a business and have it taxed. But I think alot of innocent lives on the road will be in danger for it so there needs to be some kind of restrictions for it. Just not sure how that will happen.

Hemp is already legal. And if there was market push for Hemp, I am pretty sure the scientists could genetically engineer a pot plant that produces no THC (or a negligible amount) so that the plant would be legal to grow and possess such a plant.
If you want to legalize the drug part, argue for the drug. To try to justify the drug with the hemp material is dishonest debating.
Mmm…let’s see…i somewhat remember the days when drugs and alcohol were a prevailent part of my existence….i remember, on a good day, that if i got drunk first and then smoked pot , i was totalled beyond means. And, if i got high first, then it wasn’t as bad a trip. What i do remember is mixing the too was a fouled up a way to be…my point is can a person actually just smoke the pot and not drink? Not every one. Therefore, i say no to legalizing the drug…because not every one is discerning with their habits.
I am in favor of marijuana being legalized. Legalizing it would provide much needed tax revenue. As it is the criminals and the lawyers are profiting and everyone else is losing (whether they know it or not).
AMEN! There is absolutely nothing wrong with moderate pot consumption and nothing dangerous about heavy pot consumption. It’s the only drug I know that actually makes me feel better after using it. It gives me perspective that I really just can’t get through most other American forms of entertainment. In fact, I don’t think I’d be in the top ten percent of my law school class without it (I would have gone insane long ago). The only reason it’s illegal is because the American government is bought and sold by existing corporate interests, namely paper, petrochemical, pharma, alcohol and tobacco.
