No. If you soak ANY seed overnight, it helps them SPROUT or germinate faster, that’s it. YThe type of water does not matter. The best way to treat your type of seed is soak between two paper towels submerged under water. But it really doesn’t matter because they will srout in the same amount of time if you just plant tham under warm earth with some water to keep them moist.

i get better results with a weak tea solution instead of water.

You don’t need to use distilled water really- ordinary tap water is fine.

Some seeds to germinate faster if soaked overnight in water; these tend to be seeds with hard coats which find it hard to soak up moisture from the soil. Soaking them in water helps them imbibe water more quickly and therefore helps them germinate faster (although in general they will still germinate without this treatment). Some seed also respond to having their outer seed coat carefully chipped before soaking; this also helps them to soak up water.

I have never tried growing mary jane/marijuana but I believe hemp seeds usually grow fine when just sown in moist soil/compost as they don’t have a particularly thick or hard coat.
