it is very tall, app. four-6 feet tall. has a quite thick stem and it has leaves that resembles marijuana leaves, but the underside of the leaf is purple. towards the end of spring it blooms 1 stunning red flower on the best of the stem.
i cannot mostly because it is only a couple inches tall and there are no leaves on it now and no flower… i do know that it is a perenial…last year i only had two and this year they have came back and i have seven plants total… they survive quite effectively in the sun and they are planted in really poor rocky soil and are drought tolerate….
it has one particular single flower that blooms on the best and when it dies the whole plant dies…

post a picture and I am sure some of us could help you it is kind of hard without a picture . I know i do alot of gardening but without a pic it is near impossible to tell you what you have .
there are a lot of possibilities but it could be a castor bean plant. is the flower single or a cluster of flowers.
