Question by Truman: I have recently quit employing moist smokeless tobacco. Is herbal snuff any far better?
i.e. Smokey Mountain which is tobacco free of charge. In attempting to quit, I have not experienced the nicotine withdraws, but I have knowledgeable the withdraws of possessing a “dip” in the left cheek. This is why I switched to an herbal (corn silk), mint, tobacco totally free snuff.

I don’t know as any person really knows for certain. I’d like to say the herbal stuff isn’t addictive….but my husband has been using it for many years since quiting smoking. So…it could not be a physical addiction, but it is a psychological 1 (in his case, anyway). Possibly that’s not a concern of yours although.

Herbal snuff does not have the carcinogenic nature of tobacco and most don’t have nicotine (some do, so beware.)

Smokey Mountain in particular has Guarana, which is a caffeine derivative, so it is addictive in that nature. SMC also has molasses in it, which will rot your teeth. It does have a rather soft texture, so it will be less irritating to the gums, but that corn silk seems to want to stay in your mouth in odd places.

The physical desire to have a dip in the cheek is a natural physical craving. If you weren’t craving a dip, you would probably be biting pencils or eating. It is part of an oral fixation that is based on increased activity of nerve receptors in your mouth.

I use Hooch Snuff. It has a better feel than SMC and doesn’t contain molasses. You can get it at http://www.hoochsnuff.com/.
It feels more like tobacco that SMC as well.
